With New Line Cinema set on The Mothman Prophecies and Arlington Road director Mark Pellington to get begind the camera for The Orphanage, the Guillermo del Toro produced remake of the Spanish-language ghost tale El Orfanato, the studio is now looking for their leading lady.

Bloody Disgusting has it on good authority that New Line has had talks with Amy Adams to star as “Laura”, a woman who takes over the orphanage where she was raised, to open a home for disabled children. Then her young son begins to play with the same imaginary friend who terrorized her when she was a child. Adams is a 3-times Academy Award nominee having starred in Enchanted, Doubt and The Fighter. She will soon be seen in Man of Steel and The Muppets Movie. To be clear, talks have taken place, but that does NOT mean she is signed to star.

Amy in Talks to Join ‘Les Miserables’?

Categories: Role Rumors

Keep in mind that no official casting announcements have been made and even if Amy is being offered a role, it doesn’t mean that she will want it or have time in her schedule to take it. But if she does get the role, how exciting! I would love to see her in a film like this.

Deadline.com reports this morning that filming for Woverine 2, the sequel to the successful X Men franchise starring Hugh Jackman, may be pushed back to the spring of 2012 due to location scouting issues. The film had been tentatively scheduled to film in Japan this fall, however weather conditions have made securing locations difficult. The operation may now move to Canada instead.

This means that Jackman will shoot the Les Miserables film, in which he’ll be playing Jean Valjean, first, beginning in February of 2012. The film will be shot in the UK.

According to www.itsonthegrid.com, additional actors being courted for the film include Russell Crowe for Javert, Geoffrey Rush for Thenardier, Helena Bonaham Carter for Madame Thenardier, Hayden Panettiere, Miranda Cosgrove, Lucy Hale, and Emma Watson for the roles of Eponine and Cosette, and Amy Adams and Rebecca Hall for Fantine.

Jackman has previously revealed that the new film interpretation will have songs in addition to dialogue to accommodate the medium.

‘Wizard of Oz’ Prequel in Amy’s Future?

Categories: Role Rumors

Several blogs around the web are reporting that Amy is on the shortlist to play one of the sisters in Disney’s upcoming Wizard of Oz prequel Oz, the Great and Powerful. Rachel Weisz and Mila Kunis have already been cast as Theodora and Evanora respectively so if cast, Amy would likely play Glinda. This is all unsubstantiated rumors as far as I can tell but it’s still an interesting bit of news – especially if true. Amy would make a phenomenal Glinda (though I think one of the other two roles would have been a more intriguing choice). Some other actresses on this supposed short list are Keira Knightley, Kate Beckinsale, and Olivia Wilde.

Amy Passes on ‘Rock of Ages’

According to Deadline, Amy has passed on the role of the journalist who sings and sleeps with Tom Cruise’s character in Rock of Ages. It wasn’t for lack of interest in the part. It seems her role as Lois Lane in the upcoming Man of Steel made her schedule “complicated.”

Another singing role would have been awesome to see but I also don’t want Amy to overwork herself so this is probably for the best.

‘Rock of Ages’ Still a Possibility?

With the announcement last week that Amy got the role of Lois Lane in Superman: Man of Steel, I didn’t think that the rumors I’d been hearing of a role in the upcoming movie adaption of Rock of Ages would come to be. According to a recent (yesterday) article posted on E!, Amy is “still in talks to play a journalist who ends up in bed with Cruise’s character.”

Let’s keep our fingers crossed as I hear this role would require some singing.

Ed Westwick has been cast in Clint Eastwood’s upcoming film J. Edgar.

The movie is a biopic on the career and personal life of J. Edgar Hoover, the first director of the FBI. Westwick, who currently stars on Gossip Girl as Chuck Bass, will play Agent Smith, a young FBI operative hired to write Hoover’s biography.

Westwick joins Leonardo DiCaprio, who will play Hoover, and Arnie Hammer (The Social Network), who will portray Hoover’s assistant and secret lover Clyde Tolson, reports Deadline.

Charlize Theron was rumored to star as Helen Gandy, Hoover’s personal secretary. However, Theron reportedly turned down the role, choosing to join Snow White and the Huntsman instead. Eastwood is now said to be considering Amy Adams and Naomi Watts for Gandy.

Project rumors

It looks like Amy is considering roles in three upcoming projects. Which one of these would you most like to see her in?

Amy Adams is one wanted woman. The actress/singer best known for her role in Disney’s Enchanted is contemplating a variety of parts as Paramount preps the December release of The Fighter, in which she co-stars opposite Mark Wahlberg and Christian Bale. The 36-year old actress, who recently became a mother, is in talks to co-star in Disney’s Untitled Muppet Movie opposite Jason Segal. However, she is also having discussions for Cameron Crowe’s We Bought a Zoo as well as a significant role in Dreamworks Pictures’ Welcome to People, which just landed Chris Pine in the lead.

Adams’ involvement in the Muppets flick appears the most solid, though Disney isn’t commenting. Sources tell EW.com that dates are still being worked out as she entertains the two other parts. Adams’ reps couldn’t be reached for comment. It would be interesting to see her play the zookeeper opposite Matt Damon in We Bought a Zoo. Damon is already set to play the lead role of Benjamin Mee, a recently widowed man who buys a dilapidated zoo as a condition of purchasing a beautiful country estate. Crowe is said to be looking at a short list of actresses for the part.

As for Welcome to People, the movie — which Alex Kurtzman is directing from a script he wrote with his writing partner Roberto Orci and his close friend Jody Lambert — centers on Sam (Pine) who loses his father to cancer only to learn that he was hiding a secret family. The role being discussed for Adams is Sam’s half-sister, a struggling single mother and a recovering alcoholic.

‘Town House’ still happening?

Categories: 'Town House', Role Rumors

I came across an article about a director named John Carney and there is a very brief mention of a movie we mentioned way back in November – Town House.  Not much is said, but it does claim that Amy is still attached to the project.

Wide theatrical distribution for surreal Irish comedies set in the `50s isn’t exactly the norm, though. John — who is writing a script for Judd Apatow and will later this year direct a more mainstream film, Town House, starring Amy Adams and Zach Galifianakis — says they’ve received interest from distributors but have no deal yet.

Marsden on ‘Enchanted 2′

James Marsden would love to reprise the role of Prince Edward in ‘Enchanted’.

The 36-year-old star admits he would gladly play the character in a follow-up movie, but is concerned about doing it after the age of 40.

He said: “I haven’t seen a script or anything. There’s been a couple of announcements in the trades about ‘Enchanted 2′ happening or something that Disney wants to do but there’s been nothing concrete or specific that’s comes my way.

“We’ve got to do it pretty quickly because Amy Adams and I – me more than Amy, part of the fun is that you’re play this iconic perfect prince and 40 is right around the corner for me. If it doesn’t happen in the next couple of years you don’t want to have this greying prince.”
